Usually, if you experience an error starting or updating Canopy, it will be sufficient to try again, or at most to restart your computer (which will free locked files and processes) and then try again. If you still have problems...
Do you have the most recent version of Canopy installed? See "Installing a new Canopy version".
If YES:
- Do not do a full uninstallation or re-download of Canopy. This is very rarely necessary.
- It will almost always be sufficient to reset your User Python environment, and/or delete preference / configuration files as described in this article,
- Restart your computer,
- Restart Canopy.
