[RESOLVED] Windows: Canopy cannot start because bootstrap.log is locked by another process

Status: Fixed in Canopy 1.4.1

Sometimes when starting, Canopy will report the following error:

"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process while creating:" and then a path to the file "bootstrap.log". 

This error can occur when both the 32- and 64-bit versions are installed on a system. Typically it is reported when one version, say the 64-bit version, is running and the other one is started, either directly by the user or indirectly such as clicking on a registered link or file with a registered file extension. The workaround is to either exit Canopy and then click the link such that the registered version starts or to manually open the files in Canopy.

We are investigating the cause of this issue.
