Unexpected error AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'parse_command_line_arguments'

This error has been fixed in Canopy 1.4.1, so we recommend updating to avoid this error in the future. If you are having difficulty restarting Canopy with the above error message, please follow the instructions below.

Delete the Canopy System Virtual Environment Directory:

Windows Instructions

From the Windows Start Menu, open a Command Prompt window and type the following command, depending on your Windows version and Canopy 32/64-bit version.

Windows Vista, 7, or 8 (Canopy 32-bit):

rmdir  "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Enthought\Canopy32\System"  /s

Windows Vista, 7, or 8 (Canopy 64-bit):

rmdir  "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Enthought\Canopy\System"  /s

Windows XP (Canopy 32-bit):

rmdir  "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Enthought\Canopy32\System"  /s

Windows XP (Canopy 64-bit):

rmdir  "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Enthought\Canopy\System"  /s

Then try to restart Canopy.

Mac OS X Instructions

Open a Terminal window (Applications/Utilities) and type the following command, depending on your Canopy 32/64-bit version:

Canopy 64-bit:

rm -rf ~/Library/Enthought/Canopy_64bit/System

Canopy 32-bit:

rm -rf ~/Library/Enthought/Canopy_32bit/System

Then try to restart Canopy.
