[RESOLVED] Python Tools for Visual Studio is unable to find symbols for python27.dll

Status: Fixed in Canopy 1.3.0

Python Tools for Visual Studio (PTVS) is an open source extension to Microsoft's Visual Studio development environment supporting Python development, including mixed-mode Python / C debugging. To support native code debugging, PTVS needs access to the debug symbols for Canopy's Python interpreter. The symbol file (python27.pdb) is now copied to the root directory of the User Python environment so PTVS can find it automatically. When the Canopy 1.3 update is applied, this will be corrected for existing users as well.

The symbol file is present in Canopy 1.2 installations and the file can be found in the User Python Environment "Scripts" directory (see here for default locations).

Omitted again, in error, from Canopy 1.5.3 through 1.6.0. They are back in Canopy 1.6.1 (scheduled for release around November 1).
