Linux: Use of the user home directory in Canopy 2

~/.canopy directory:
Using a directory such as this for preference, log, and other files that are disposable (though at a slight cost) is a fairly standard practice. This is particularly crucial when the main software is installed in a directory which is not normally writable.

~/.local directory:
Canopy puts its EDM-related directories (Python environments and caches etc) in  ~/.local/share/canopy/edm, as described in the User Guide FAQ, section "Where are all of the Python packages in my Canopy Python Environments?".
